Feb. 15 | Free workshop - Beads of Hope

Join me for a hands-on ceramic jewelry-making class in celebration of Black History Month. In this class, students will reflect on the historical significance of jewelry in the transatlantic slave trade and reclaim its meaning by creating two pieces of their choosing, such as earrings, bracelets, or necklaces. Additionally, Nicole will provide a demonstration of her ceramic bead-making process.

Feb. 1 | Valentines Jewelry Workshop at FSC Clayworks

Grab your valentine, or galentine! Join me for a 3 hour hands-on ceramic jewelry making workshop. Learn the art of ceramic bead making. Nicole will assist you in completing your own set of ceramic Valentines-themed beads, then provide a demonstration of jewelry making. Once your pieces are fired, each participant will receive a kit with jewelry findings to assemble and complete your pieces at home. All skill levels welcome; BYOB.Participants will learn colored clay techniques and make up a set of beads. Jewelry findings will be provided to make 2 pairs of earrings and a bracelet. Kiln firings are included in the price; jewelry-making tools not included.Pricing is for 1 participant.

Community is an essential ingredient for success in any field, especially the arts. For artists of color – a lack of representation and barriers like pressure for stability can make it hard for students and families to visualize what a future in the arts can really look like. There are so many opportunities and paths to work and support the arts. Success is not all or nothing!

In this panel discussion brought to you by Mosaic Makers Collective and the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture, we'll talk to - and learn from - five local ALAANA artisans who are making it work in the real world.
